Minonk – Water/Waste Water Plant Commissioner

City of Minonk (pop: 2000) is accepting applications for this fulltime position. Must have valid Class “A” IEPA Water Operator Certification and a Class 3 or higher IEPA Water Treatment Works Operator Certification. Valid driver’s license. List of job duties is as follows;

Water/Waste Water Commissioner –

  1. Daily operation of water plants and distribution system with assistance of Public Works Department;
  2. Maintain, repair, and expand distribution system as needed;
  3. Monitor water flow and treatment maintenance;
  4. Chemical feed into treatment system;
  5. Pressure filter monitor and maintenance;
  6. RO plant monitor and maintenance;
  7. Monitor and maintain all water pump and chemical feed pumps;
  8. Monitor and maintain all motors in the system;
  9. Routine inspection and maintenance of all plumbing valves, chemical feed lines, and check valves;
  10. Maintain daily monitor and maintenance records pertaining to well performances, RO plant performance, and chemical usage;
  11. Maintain daily/monthly IEPA records and reports;
  12. Calibrate and use laboratory equipment to test water qualities;
  13. Monitor and adjust chemical feed rates and blend rates to provide highest possible water quality;
  14. Collect monthly bacteria samples from wells and distribution system to ensure water is safe;
  15. Install taps into the public water main;
  16. Supervise service line installations;
  17. Read water meters;
  18. Repair/replace water meters;
  19. Enforce cross-connection ordinance and maintain required IEPA records of cross-connection installations;
  20. Shall order and maintain inventory of all parts, chemicals, and other operating supplies;
  21. Shall have ability to operate and use all city motor vehicles and equipment;
  22. Shall keep informed of all rules and regulation and sample requirements set forth by USEPA and IEPA;
  23. Shall have ability to cooperate with the public and employees, addressing needs and desires in respectful manner;
  24. Daily operation of sewer plant and collection system with assistance from Public Works Department;
  25. Monitor wastewater flow;
  26. Chemical feed during overflows;
  27. Monitor and maintain all wastewater pumps and chemical feed pump;
  28. Monitor and maintain all motors in the system;
  29. Routine inspection of maintenance of all plumbing valves, chemical line, check valves;
  30. Maintain daily monitor and maintenance records;
  31. Maintain daily/monthly IEPA records and reports;
  32. Collect monthly samples from influent and effluent;
  33. Inspect sewer main taps;
  34. Shall order and maintain inventory of all parts, chemicals, and other operating supplies;
  35. Shall have ability to operate and use all city motor vehicles and equipment;
